Feast of Christ the King – B

Sometimes a conversation bewteen two people could change the history of the world. We see at the moment the conversations in Baku  in Azerbaijan,  as the COP 2024 summit comes to an end, how conversations are breaking down and they are finding it hard to come to a agreement. Today we see a conversation between two people.  It took place 2000 years ago;  it was between Pontius Pilate the Roman procurator and Jesus Christ.  It was really a trial, which would lead to Jesus’ crucufiction.  As we listen to this conversation, we see a change coming in Pilate. The questions and answers come to a revelation of who Jesus really is.  He is a King, but his kingdom is not of this world.  It s a kingdom of peace, justice and truth;  a kingdom of love.  We can be listeners in this conversation, or we can just be only readers, bystanders. This conversation gives us an insight into the heart of Jesus,  and let’s us understand who he really is. What does this mean to me personally?  Jesus is king of the universe,  but he is a king who serves me,  who loves me, and who pardons me. He is a king who will not take my heart by force,  he will wait patiently at the door for me to open.  After this conversation,  Pilate wrote four words about Jesus, INRI (Latin: Iesus Nazarenus, Rex Iudaeorum). Jesus of Nazareth, king of the Jews.  Every time we see we see a crucifux we see these words.  Let us then ask for the grace that Jesus is  really king,  and make him king of our hearts. On this fest day of Christ, the king let us take a long look at the crucifix in this Church, or at home, and let us ask ourselves 3 questions? What have I done for this King in the past? What am I doing for him right now? What will I do for him in the future?
